A UCLA graduate with 30+ years in financial planning, Laura received her CFP® in 1984. She is President of The Tarbox Group, Inc., the fee-only wealth advisory firm she founded in 1985.

Laura has served as a Director on the National Board of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, and is a past President of the Orange County Society of the ICFP. She has taught investment and insurance classes for the California CPA Education Foundation, and has been part of the adjunct faculty of the College for Financial Planning, USC and California Lutheran University. Laura taught financial planning courses in the certificate program at UC Irvine for 20 years, where she was the Program Co-Director and founder of the successful Financial Planning Internship program. In 1997 Laura was chosen from over 800 UCI Extension instructors to receive the Distinguished Instructor Award.

From 1998-1999 Laura served on the Charles Schwab Institutional Advisory Board, and from 1998-2000, she served on the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards’ Board of Examiners.  Laura currently serves on the TD Ameritrade Elite Advisory Board.

Formerly host of the weekly radio talk show “Money with Laura Tarbox” on K-ORG 1190 AM, Laura is frequently featured in the local and national media as an expert on financial planning and investments, and has been retained as an expert witness in insurance and investment cases.

Laura is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary and a private trustee on several trusts.

Laura’s volunteer charitable activities include Board Chair of the Laguna Beach Community Foundation, Treasurer of the Laguna Beach Schoolpower Endowment Fund, Laguna Canyon Foundation’s Gift and Estate Planning and Investments Committees, and Board member of ChildAid, a non-profit foundation dedicated to creating opportunity through literacy in the lives of Latin American children living in poverty.

Laura Tarbox has been recognized as one of the “Best Financial Advisors” in the country by Worth magazine since 1996. She was named one the country’s “100 Great Financial Planners” by Mutual Funds magazine in 2001 and 2002.
